One of the treatments offered for headache relief and TMJ dysfunctions at Royal Dental Care is TruDenta®. TruDenta is a specialized treatment that focuses on treating the cause of your pain, and not only the pain itself. We invite you to call Royal Dental Care at 503-554-6714 to learn more about TruDenta in Newberg, Oregon, and to schedule your consultation with Dr. Marco Gutierrez.
Research in recent years has shown that when unequal forces in your mouth influence the various areas of your head, it can trigger nerve responses that result in pain, such as headaches; migraines; vertigo; TMJ disorders; and aches in the face, jaw, and neck. Other medical conditions, trauma, or poor posture can also contribute to your discomfort.
After evaluating your condition and examining your health history, our dentist will determine the cause of your pain and discomfort. Dr. Marco Gutierrez will then create a customized treatment plan, including the use of TruDenta techniques. TruDenta helps prepare the nerves and muscles in your head and neck to begin functioning properly again. One or more of the following techniques may be used as part of your treatment:
- Ultrasound – to return circulation to chronically sore and strained muscles, and to break up scar tissue in the muscles.
- Trigger Point Therapy – trigger points are hyperirritable places in the areas surrounding skeletal muscle. Trigger point therapy is similar to massage therapy in that it breaks up muscle knots in order to decrease and eliminate pain and tension and increase the circulation of blood to the affected areas.
- Electrocurrent – microcurrent stimulation is used to reduce muscle spasms, decrease the build-up of lactic acid in your muscles, and stimulate your nerves.
- Low-Level Laser – cold laser therapy can help decrease pain and inflammation, rebuild nerve function, and accelerate the healing of muscle and joint tissue.
Your TruDenta treatment will last about 50 minutes.
